Rivers: I know what I would have done to prolong emergency rule - Wike

By

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, boasted that he had the capacity to prolong the emergency rule imposed on Rivers State.

NATIONAL POST recalls that President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday lifted the emergency rule imposed on Rivers.

However, 24 hours later, Governor Siminalayi Fubara is nowhere to be found.

Speaking on Channels Television, Wike said that the emergency rule would not have ended if he had wanted it to continue.

The Minister, who is believed to have been at the centre of the crisis in the state, said some individuals are determined to see the crisis in the state persist.

Wike said that some people he described as crisis builders do not want the unrest to end because they were benefiting from it.

“I was watching on television today, there are people who are natural crisis builders who think they can only benefit when there is a crisis.

"If we don't want this state of emergency to be lifted, we would have done one or two things to ensure that it continues,” he claimed.
