Dozens of Nigerians escaping bandits attacks drown in River

Many Nigerians everal escaping attacks by suspected bandits have reportedly drowned.

The victims are from a community in Sokoto State which has suffered series of bandits' attacks.

A boat carrying the victims reportedly struck a culvert and capsized, leading to casualties.

The ugly incident occurred on Thursday night when the trouble makers launched attacks on their victims.

Details of the incident could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

Daily Trust reports that rescue efforts are currently underway as authorities work to assess the full extent of the casualties.

A similar incident occurred in the Shagari Local Government Area of the state on August 29 when a boat capsized leaving many passengers missing.

Similarly, on August 18, another boat accident occurred in the state claimed at least three lives and left over 20 missing.

Sokoto is one of the Northern states that have continued to experience endless attacks by bandits.
