1. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on Tuesday announced a cut on the interest rate. The Monetary Policy Committee, MPC, of the CBN announced that the interest rate has been reduced from 27.50 percent to 27 percent.
2. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has finally regained access to her office. The female Senator addressed journalists on Tuesday right in her office at the National Assembly, where she accused Senate President, Godswill Akpabio of treating her as his domestic staff.
3. A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, representing Pankshin South Constituency, Hon. Denty Laven has been abducted by gunmen. The lawmaker was abducted on Monday night from his home at Dong area of Jos North LGA.
4. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the Senate to tender a public apology to both Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and her Kogi Central constituents. The organisation which expressed delight over the return of Senator Natasha, insisted she should never have been suspended.
5. A man who just returned from Europe has been shot dead in Benin city, Edo State capital. The man, simply identified as Derrick, was shot after he allegedly resisted the attempt to steal his gold necklace valued at N50 million.
6. The African Democratic Congress, ADC, again accused President Bola Tinubu administration of destroying the Naira. The party was reacting to a statement that Tinubu will not stay in office beyond 2031. It described the remarks as presumptuous and patently undemocratic, and said President Tinubu should prepare to hand over to a more competent Nigerian in 2027.
7. Former Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has urged late Chief Audu Ogbeh to “tell Nigeria’s founding fathers that things are still bad” as he joins them in the afterlife. He spoke on Monday at a night of tributes held for Ogbeh at the International Conference Centre, ICC, in Abuja.
8. A total of 14 Nigerian banks have fully met the new capital requirement in the ongoing recapitalisation exercise. The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Yemi Cardoso, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja, while presenting a communiqué from the 302nd meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the CBN.
9. Former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has questioned the billions of Naira donation made by some Nigerians in honour of First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. He described it as eye service. Sani made the claim in a post on his official Facebook page on Tuesday while reacting to the over N20 billion raised by President Bola Tinubu's wife, Remi Tinubu for the National Library.
10. A fully loaded 40-foot container lorry overturned in Lagos State on Tuesday and landed on a commercial tricycle, popularly known as Keke Napep. The accident claimed two passengers, including a serving police officer.
