PENGASSAN confirms Dangote Refinery’s sack of all Nigerian workers, way forward

By

Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, has confirmed that Dangote Refinery has sacked all its Nigerian workers.

The sack came hours after the workers joined PENGASSAN, NATIONAL POST reported earlier.

President of PENGASSAN, Festus Osifo confirmed the development on Friday, and vowed that the workers would be reinstated.

"Yes, it is true. We saw the latter late last night (Wednesday).

"I can assure you that they will recall all of them," Usifo, who is also President of Nigeria's Trade Union Congress, told Daily Post.

The oil workers and Dangote Refinery have been having a trade dispute for weeks now, leading to intervention by the Nigerian Government.

Dangote Refinery had earlier said the workers were free to join PENGASSAN or any other union of their choice.

However, the sack of all the workers shows it had made a U-turn on that stand.
