BREAKING: INEC gets Acting National Chairman as Mahmood bows out

An acting National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has emerged.

This is following a handover ceremony at the commission's office on Monday.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu handed over to May Agbamuche as the Acting National Chairman.

Agbamuche, who is the oldest serving National Commissioner in the electoral body, will be in charge until a substantive chairman is appointed by President Bola Tinubu.

Mahmood announced this on Tuesday at the ongoing meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

He solicited the support of the commissioners and directors of the commission for Agbamuche, until the appointment of a substantive chairman.
