LP crisis: Abure jubilates as ‘INEC recognises Moghalu’

By

The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party, on Monday, went into jubilation with claims that it has been officially recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Ever since the Supreme Court delivered its judgement on the LP leadership crisis, there has been no clear direction on who is the authentic national chairman of the party.

Senator Nenadi Usman is leading the Mr Peter Obi-backed faction of the party.

The INEC had said it was yet to take a final stand on the matter.

However, on Monday, the Abure faction confirmed that the commission has published the name of Chief Dr. George Moghalu as the party's gubernatorial candidate for Anambra State election.

It made this known in a post on its official X handle on Monday, noting that INEC by so doing endorsed its leadership and legitimacy.

"INEC has officially published the name of Chief Dr. George Moghalu as the Labour Party's gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming Anambra State election.

"This development has reaffirmed the Labour Party under Barr Julius Abure's leadership as the officially recognized party by INEC, endorsing its leadership and legitimacy.

"Heartfelt congratulations to Chief Dr. George Moghalu on this historic victory!

“May your leadership and vision propel Anambra State to new heights. Congratulations also to the good people of Anambra State on this development! Kudos to Barr Julius Abure and his entire team for this victory. The Labour Party is marching forward with strength and determination.

"ELuPee Forward Ever, Backward Never!”
