The people of Asa Umudim community of Osisioma LGA of Abia State were, weekend, thrown into mourning after a man set his house on fire.
NATIONAL POST learnt that the incident resulted in the death of one of his the man’s daughters.
This is also as the wife and two other children are battling for survival in a hospital following the attack.
The 40-year-old man, whose identity has not been released by security agencies, doused his house with inflammable substances before igniting the compound.
He had accused his wife of engaging in extra-marital affairs.
“The suspect accused the wife of regularly picking phone calls of people he suspected to be her boyfriends.
“One of the daughters died inside the razed house, while doctors are battling to save the life of wife and the other children,” a source said.
He further revealed that the enraged villagers were about lynching the suspect before the arrival of the police.
The body of the daughter of the suspect who died in the attack has been deposited in a mortuary.
Abia State Police Command confirmed the incident.
