2027: APC in panic mode - Atiku

By

Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar says the All Progressives Congress, APC, is jittery.

Atiku, a former Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, was speaking on the recent endorsement of Tinubu by APC governors and National Assembly members.

He stated that the endorsement showed a sign of panic and desperation by the party.

Speaking through his media aide, Paul Ibe, the former Vice President said Tinubu's administration should focus on redeeming Nigeria from hardship, insecurity and not be preoccupied with presidential endorsements.

Ibe told journalists in Abuja: “When you’ve prepared diligently for an exam, you can sleep soundly the night before, waking up assured of success. That’s the position of our coalition.

“Nigerians are the ultimate judges. Their endorsements will determine the outcome, not the political manoeuvrings of the ruling party. The recent endorsements reveal the panicked state of this administration.

"Insecurity is at an unprecedented level, with territories being reclaimed by insurgents in Borno State and other regions. The cost of living is unbearable. Families struggle to feed themselves, access healthcare, or send their children to school.

"As school fees are due, many are weighed down by these burdens. Yet, the government has done little to address these challenges, choosing instead to focus on political games.”

Atiku’s statement comes amid push by the opposition politicians to forge a coalition and defeat Tinubu in 2027.

On Sunday, the coalition met with a Northern group where they drummed support of the Northern leaders to the project.

Apart from Atiku, former LP presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, former governor of Kaduna and Rivers states, Nasir El-Rufai and Chibuike Amaechi, respectively, as well as former SGF, Babachir Lawal were all in attendance.
