‘They were praying for him’ - Staff accused of praying for deceased student instead of medical help

The death of an engineering student at Covenant University, CU, Ota, Ogun State, Mordi Nwense Daniel, is generating controversies.

Daniel was said to have been struck by lightning while playing football with his colleagues.

The incident occurred on the university’s playing pitch.

But, some eyewitnesses have now come out to blame his death on negligence.

They are accusing some of the university staff of resorting to spiritual help rather than medical solutions.

It was alleged that rather than taking him straight for medical attention they were praying for him.

“Attention of some of the staff members was drawn when the incident occurred.

“However, they did not take him to the hospital immediately; they were busy praying for him.

“Pastors gathered and were praying for him; but it did not work.

“It was when his condition had gotten worse that they now took him to the hospital, but it was already late,” a source said in confidence.

The university management is yet to react as of the time of filing this report.
