Gov Lawal gives further insight on PDP crisis, says Atiku alone not behind crisis

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has explained why the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has continued to fester.

NATIONAL POST reports that every effort to find a lasting solution to the crisis hitting the opposition party has hit the brick wall.

Just recently, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, rejected the party’s notice for the 100th NEC meeting, thereby compounding its woes.

Speaking during a media parley with journalists in Gusau on Wednesday, Lawal said Atiku Abubakar, former vice president, should not be solely blamed for the crisis.

He said the crisis stemmed from personal interests and power struggles.

“Everybody has their own issue; it’s not just about Atiku Abubakar. It’s beyond him.

“It’s an internal problem within the PDP, and we are making conscious efforts to address it. I think it’s about people’s egos, everybody, no exception,” he stated.

Lawal did not exempt himself when he was asked if he considered himself part of the problem.

He responded candidly: “Yes.”
