Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has claimed that chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who defected to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, are embittered because he stopped them from hijacking the party.
Wike said this was the sole reason they left the umbrella party.
The Minister was referring to former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President, David Mark, among others, who have now moved to the ADC.
Wike, in a media chat with journalists on Thursday, claimed that David Mark wanted to be PDP National Chairman but was denied.
He said this was why Mark quit the PDP and not for any national interest.
Wike urged Nigerians to be mindful of the rationale behind the coalition, noting that it is made of individuals who are hungry that they are no longer in power.
"Nigerians need to be careful of these groups of Nigerians who are angry because they left power.
"Nigerians know everybody. For how long would you continue to deceive them?
“Who would want to give a listening ear to these kinds of people?
"The opposition has decimated themselves", he claimed.
He also claimed during the interview that certain enemies were not happy that he had reconciled with his predecessor, suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
He alleged that several people had turned the crisis in the state into an “oil well”, from which they were drawing illicit funds for their selfish interests.
The minister added that he does not owe anyone an explanation on the terms of the truce between him and Fubara.
