The Mr Peter Obi faction of the Labour Party, LP, has formally adopted the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Enugu State.
This was contained in a notice issued on Thursday by the party chairman, Chief Kingsley Ugwu.
The notice, which came a day after the opposition coalition members adopted ADC as their official platform, was directed to all members and stakeholders of the LP in the state.
It reads, “This is an official message from the Leadership of Labour Party Enugu State.
“We are pleased to announce that Labour Party Enugu State has officially embraced the coalition to contribute to the movement for achieving a better Nigeria, working together with our principal, Peter Obi.
“While we remain committed members of the Labour Party, we recognize the importance of collaboration and unity in pursuit of our shared goals.”
There was, however, an error in the letter as it said wards in Enugu State are 160 in number as against 260.
According to the chairman, “As part of this effort, we are excited to announce that we can now begin advertising the ADC agenda across all 160 wards in Enugu State.
“This initiative aims to promote our vision for a better Nigeria and engage with our communities on the issues that matter most.”
“We believe that by working together, we can build a brighter future for our state and our nation.
We look forward to your support and participation in this effort,” the letter concluded.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the Julius Abure-led faction of the LP gave Mr Peter Obi 48-hour ultimatum to either resign from the party or get expelled.
In Enugu, the Abure group is under the chairmanship of Barr Casmir Agbo.
