Wike gives condition to resign as FCT Minister

By

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has threatened to resign from office if his allegations against his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi are proved to be false.

He spoke on Friday when he appeared as a guest on Channels Television.

Wike appeared apparently to counter Amaechi who was at the same television on Thursday, where he described his wife as an industrialist.

However, the FCT Minister countered him, saying the wife is a trader and that she earns N4 billion monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

He threatened to resign if his claims were found to be untrue.

“Amechi’s wife was pocketing N4 billion every month from the NDDC, supposedly to ‘train Niger Delta women.’

"Mr. President, please make that forensic audit public. Malami kept it buried just to shield Amechi. And if what I’m saying isn’t true, I’ll happily resign as a minister. I’m not desperate to hold office,” he declared.

He further accused the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, of deliberately concealing the forensic audit report in order to shield Amaechi and others allegedly involved in financial mismanagement.

Wike maintained that Amaechi lied over his wife's occupation.

He said, "I know Amaechi's wife very well. Amaechi is insulting Nigerians, when did your wife become an industrialist?

"Which of the manufacturing companies does she own.

"I have always said that if we are playing politics, let's play politics and leave our wives out of it.

"Amaechi doesn't know the difference between industrialists and traders".
