‘Emergency NEC will expel Peter Obi’ - LP

By

The Julius Abure-led Labour Party, LP, has disclosed that its presidential candidate in 2023, Mr Peter Obi will be expelled from the party in the next few days.

This was disclosed on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Abayomi Arabambi.

He said an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting will be convened in the next few days to recommend the expulsion of Obi for joining what he called “Yahoo Yahoo coalition.”

Speaking on Tuesday during the Channels Television Morning

Brief, Arabambi explained that Obi, who had previously been placed on suspension, proceeded to engage in what the party described as anti-party activities.

“You don’t join a political party and still keep your leg in another party. He knows it is unconstitutional to belong to two political parties at the same time.

“They have succeeded in luring him to their side, and there he shall remain,” Arabambi said.

He further revealed that the NEC would soon meet to formally recommend Obi’s expulsion, which would then be confirmed at the party’s national convention in line with the Labour Party constitution and the practice of most political parties.

“When we want to expel any member who acts contrary to our constitution, the NEC makes the recommendation, and final approval is given at the convention.

“So, Obi will be expelled from our party; he is no longer a member of the Labour Party,” he further stated.

He also dismissed the Senator Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee of LP, describing it as ‘Nigeria Festival Committee.”
