Two ex-presidents arrive London, meet Buhari's family

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and ex-President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, are currently at the residence of the Nigerian High Commissioner in London.

The two leaders arrived London on Monday on a condolence visit to the family of late former president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

They were received by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

In a post on his social media page, Jonathan confirmed the visit.

He wrote, "I joined other sympathisers to pay a condolence visit to the family of late former President Mohammed Buhari in London, this evening.

"I also visited the Nigerian House where I met with members of the Federal Government delegation who have come to accompany the remains of the former President to Nigeria for burial, including Vice President H.E. Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar.

"May Allah forgive the shortcomings of late President Buhari and grant him aljannah firdaus. GEJ."

Buhari was announced dead on Sunday after battling an undisclosed ailment.

His burial, earlier scheduled for today, has been shifted to tomorrow, Tuesday.

President Bola Tinubu had on Sunday directed Shettima and his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to head to the United Kingdom to accompany the late former president’s body back to Nigeria.

The Nigerian Government on Monday declared tomorrow, Tuesday, as a public holiday in honour of the late ex-president.
