The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi has explained why he didn’t attend the burial of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
Obi’s absence during the burial generated controversy, with Remo Omokri asking him to forget Northern votes in 2027.
However, he has explained that he could not get a flight to Katsina.
The former Anambra State governor was in Katsina on Wednesday, alongside former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and Nasir El-Rufai, immediate past governor of Kaduna State.
They trio were in Daura to commiserate with the family of the late former President.
Speaking to Arise TV, Obi said: "It was difficult to come yesterday (Tuesday) because there was no flight.
"Even if there was a flight, you couldn't land in Katsina Airport. It was all closed, because there were a lot of dignitaries.
"Mourning continues until tomorrow. So, whoever comes today and tomorrow, is still part of the mourning."
