Edo North lawmaker, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has said he doesn’t agree with Mr Peter Obi’s positions on many issues.
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State stirred controversy days ago when he warned Obi not to step into the state again without his approval.
The governor was apparently angered that Obi visited a school in the state and made a donation of N15 million.
Many people have since then criticized the governor, with some Nigerians describing it as a death threat.
Others also said it is a veiled threat to the entire Igbo race.
Giving his opinion, Oshimhole said the Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Obi, should extend the courtesy of informing Okpebholo before visiting Edo State.
He made his stand known on Friday during an appearance on Arise TV’s Prime Time programme.
The Senator said: “Let’s be clear, the assets of Edo State are managed by the governor on behalf of the people.
“If I were to visit a public institution in another state, I would consider it proper to notify the authorities, this is just standard decency.
“Peter Obi and I have known each other for years. I respected him then, and I still do.
“But we don’t align politically, and I don’t agree with many of his positions.”
