How my wife stopped me from abusing Buhari in death - Fayose

By

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, says he was very prepared to abuse former president Muhammadu Buhari when he passed on.

NATIONAL POST recalls that Fayose and Buhari were not best of friends, as the former governor criticized the then president fiercely while he held sway.

As soon as he left office, he was picked up by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and arraigned.

A few days ago, the case was struck out and Fayose acquitted.

Appearing as guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Friday, Fayose said he was ready to continue the rivalry with Buhari even in death.

He, however, said his wife stopped him.

“The people in Nigeria only praise the dead.  When President Buhari died, I wanted to come out and abuse him (but) my wife called me not to say so,” he revealed.

He went ahead to pass a no-performance verdict on Buhari.

“Would you say Buhari performed? I’m not among those praising the dead. Don’t honour me when I die. When I die, I’m gone,” he said.

It could be recalled that Fayose in an interview in April this year, said he paid dearly for fighting Buhari.
