Ahead of the 2027 general elections, fresh indications have emerged that Mr Peter Obi is likely returning to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This is coming from a chieftain of the PDP, Prof Jerry Gana.
The former Minister of Information said members of the party were working towards bringing Obi, a former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, back to the main opposition party.
NATIONAL POST reports that key members of the PDP have been holding closed-door meetings with Obi in recent times.
One of such meetings was held earlier this week, with pictures going viral on social media.
There has been no clear information on whether Obi is committed to the opposition coalition which adopted African Democratic Congress, ADC, as its official platform.
Feelers show that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who recently dumped the PDP for the ADC, is well positioned to clinch the ADC ticket.
Obi, also stranded in the crisis-ridden Labour Party, is now being wooed to return to the PDP, a party he left in 2022 to the Labour Party where he made waves.
Gana, a founding member of the PDP, told AIT on Friday that they Obi was being approached.
When questioned about whether the party had reached out to Obi regarding a return, Gana replied, "Why not?
“He [Obi] is not the only person. We are also moving to other persons. But I don’t want to announce until we really get there.
“I have a very solid platform. I can now go back to these people and say the platform you were complaining about is now set, proper, and ready to move. I know many of them would respond.”
