2027: 'Nigerian people need you' - Ex-presidential aspirant begs Jonathan

By

A former presidential aspirant, Mathias Tsado, has called on ex-president Goodluck Jonathan to return and contest in the next general election.

Tsado, who was an aspirant under the Action Democratic Party, ADP, spoke on Channels TV Sunrise Daily on Tuesday.

He praised Jonathan’s leadership style, describing him as a politician who was never desperate for power.

“When the people call you to serve, you see the position former President Goodluck Jonathan finds himself today is what most politicians are yearning for. He showed he is not someone desperate to be in government,” Tsado said.

He recalled Jonathan’s famous remark during the 2015 elections that “his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian,” adding that although Jonathan lost the election, he won the hearts of the people.

“Someone said recently that former President Jonathan lost the election in 2015 but gained the people, and that is what is working for him today. Who would not ride on such goodwill? He has not declared his intention to run, but for someone like me, I am praying for the day he does,” Tsado added.

He further appealed to those close to Jonathan to encourage him to enter the 2027 presidential race, saying: “Please come and run, sir. The Nigerian people need you."
