The political uncertainty in Benue State took another dimension on Sunday following the resignation of the House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajoh.
This comes days after the House refused to screen some commissioner nominees sent to it by Governor Hyacinth Alia.
It has cited the state government's refusal to implement some of its recommendations.
Days later, the Speaker announced the suspension of four lawmakers.
However, the Speaker is now the casualty of the looming political crisis in the state.
In a handwritten letter dated 24th August 2025 and shared on his Facebook page with the words, he wrote' “Let there be peace”.
Dajoh formally announced his resignation, stating that his decision was taken “in good faith and in the best interest of the state."
He thanked his colleagues for giving him the opportunity to serve as “the first among equals” and pledged to remain dedicated to his legislative duties and the representation of his constituency, Gboko West State Constituency.
