Thunderstorms, rainfall to hit Nigerian states from Monday to Wednesday - NiMet

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency provided a weather forecast for this week, Monday to Wednesday.

According to the agency, there will be thunderstorms and rainfall across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook predicted that Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba and Kebbi states would experience isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains on Monday morning. 

According to NiMet, isolated thunderstorms with moderate rain are expected across the northern region in the afternoon and evening, while flash floods are likely in Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe states.

A cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is expected on Monday morning in the central region and will be accompanied by moderate rainfall over Niger, Kogi, Kwara, the FCT, and Benue, adding that thunderstorms with moderate rains are forecast over most parts of the central region later in the day.

Moderate rains, according to the statement, are expected in Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states with cloudy skies over the Southern region on Monday as well moderate rains are anticipated over most parts of the southern region later in the day.

The northern region on Tuesday will experience cloudy skies with sunshine intervals, pointing out that isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected over Borno, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba, and Adamawa.

Thunderstorms with moderate rains are forecast over Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Taraba states later in the day.

Cloudy skies with sunshine intervals are expected on Tuesday morning in the central region, with moderate rains over Kogi, Niger, the FCT, Kwara, and Nasarawa states, stressing that thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected later in the day over Niger, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, and the FCT.

In the southern region also on Tuesday morning, cloudy skies with chances of moderate rains are expected in Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Delta states, while light to moderate rains are forecast across most parts of the region later in the day.

On Wednesday, in Sokoto and Zamfara, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are expected over the northern region, accompanied by slim chances of thunderstorms and light rain, while in the afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected over Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto states.

Cloudy skies with sunshine intervals are expected on Wednesday morning in the central region, with light rains likely in the FCT, Kogi, Kwara, and Niger states, adding that thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected in Benue, Kwara, Kogi, and Niger states later in the day.

In the southern region on Wednesday morning, cloudy skies are expected with moderate rains likely later in the day.
