Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, a presidential hopeful, Barr. Kester Kaunda Ekwueme has urged Nigeria First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu to prevail on her husband, President Tinubu, to ensure credible polls.
Ekwueme, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent on Tuesday.
While thanking the First Lady for her supportive role to the President, the presidential hopeful urged Mrs Tinubu to advise “your husband to conduct or ensure that there would be a free, fair and transparent election in 2027.”
“Your husband, Mr. President, has achieved his dream of becoming the President of one of the greatest nations in the world but 2027 is the time for change,” he declared.
He said the first family had lived a life of accomplishment, stressing what mattered at the moment was a good legacy.
“The most important things in life are internal, viz: happiness, peace of mind, contentment, high self-esteem and high self-worth, which no one can get without doing the right things.
“The big question is- why would a trillionaire or billionaire not want to ensure that there will be a free, fair and transparent election if the person is contented, has high self-esteem and high self-worth?” He queried.
Ekwueme further stated that Nigerians were desirous of change in 2027.
“We, Nigerians need the status quo to change from 2027 and need the change to begin from you and your husband President Tinubu.
“Note our dear First Lady Senator Oluremi that you are a Pastor, mother of the Nigeria Nation today, a role model to all girls, women and mothers that are the pillars of every home in Nigeria, but if you make the mistake of not encouraging your husband, Mr. President Tinubu, to make sure that there is a free, fair and transparent election in Nigeria in 2027, you, your family and husband have failed Nigerians.
“Our dear First Lady, Pastor Oluremi, it is high time we allowed free, fair and transparent elections that will provide a level playing field for all candidates like Barr. Kester Kaunda Ekwueme, His Excellency Peter Obi, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and others in the 2027 Presidential election, to ensure a genuine democratic process.”
He urged the first family to utilize the 2027 election as an opportunity to write their names in gold like former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
