Man mysteriously disappears after attending seminar in Ondo

Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the mysterious disappearance of Olaloye Olatunde, who went missing after attending a seminar in Akure, the state capital.

Mr Olatunde, a resident of Owo, was said to have travelled to Akure on Sunday, August 24, to take part in a Child Labour programme organised by the Trace Project Akure in partnership with Charakids Foundation at Sunview Hotel.

However, days after the programme ended, his whereabouts remain unknown. It was gathered that his personal belongings, including clothes, shoes, and other effects, were reportedly found untouched in his hotel room long after other participants had checked out.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Olayinka Alayande, confirmed that the matter had been officially reported and that detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit were already probing the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.

Family members disclosed that Olatunde had maintained regular communication with them between Monday and Wednesday during the event.

But by Friday, August 29, attempts to reach him proved futile, as his phone had been switched off. His wife’s concerns reportedly escalated when her repeated calls went unanswered.

The family’s visit to the hotel deepened their fears, as they discovered his belongings still intact, raising further questions about what might have happened to him.

As of press time, neither the hotel management nor the programme organisers had issued a statement on the matter.

The police have appealed for calm, assuring that investigations are ongoing.
