Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has explained the reason for his visit to President Bola Tinubu on Monday.
NATIONAL POST reported that days after he was reinstated as governor, Fubara arrived at the presidential villa, Abuja, where he held a private meeting with Tinubu.
In a video which has since gone viral, Fubara could be seen as he arrived the President’s office, and exchanged pleasantries from him (Tinubu).
Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum and Imo Governor, who was about to take his leave, congratulated Fubara for regaining his seat.
Fubara later addressed journalists explaining his reason for the visit.
The governor said it was essentially to thank President Tinubu for the role he played in restoring peace to the oil-rich state.
He said, “I’m here to say thank you, especially for his intervention. We all knew what was happening in Rivers State, the political tension in Rivers State, for saving the situation.
“I’m here after the lifting of the state of emergency; I believe that my coming back after the lifting of the suspension is the new stronger hope for our people, because the government is a government about the people.
“So our working is not just for the people, but also with all the parties, the Assembly members, the National Assembly members, elders, everybody, this time around are working for the betterment of our dear state.”
