Oba Rashidi Ladoja has ascended the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Ladoja is a former Oyo State governor.

His crowning as Olubadan took place at the Ose Meji Temple in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area after he earlier received the symbolic Akoko leaf at the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba.

Governor Seyi Makinde is scheduled to present him with the official staff and instruments of office at the iconic Mapo Hall in a separate ceremony.

Gbenga Daniel and other dignitaries are attending the event, amid heavy security.

Ladoja’s elevation follows the death of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025. Further updates on the coronation are expected.
