Rivers State Government Secretariat was on Monday engulfed by fire.
NATIONAL POST learnt that the inferno affected the section which houses the Rivers State Pension Board.
As of the time of this report, the cause has not been ascertained.
The incident has been confirmed by Honour Sirawoo, the permanent secretary of the ministry of information.
He didn't state if there were any casualties.
Sirawoo added that firefighters from both the state and Federal Fire Services, FFS, are currently at the scene, working hard to put out the flames.
The development comes 24 hours after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike met with Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other key actors in the Rivers crisis.
Just about three weeks ago, President Bola Tinubu recalled the suspended Governor of the state, Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly.
Recall that Tinubu had declared state of emergency in the oil rich Niger Delta state on March 18, 2025.
