2027: Peter Obi, Tanko visit Obasanjo

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Sunday paid a courtesy visit to the former Nigeria president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

The former Anambra state governor, alongside the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, former Lagos LP governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and Segun Adebanjo visited Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

According to him, the visit centered on the state of the country and how all  can live in unity, love, justice, and fairness.

He disclosed this in a tweet on his X handle on Sunday.

Obi expressed confidence that it is possible to assemble a capable team with compassion, dedication, and capacity to build a new Nigeria.

It reads, “Today, I with Dr @YunusaTanko , Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Vivour @GRVlagos and Segun Adebanjo visited President Obasanjo on a  courtesy visit. Thereafter, we visited the new Olubadan of Ibadan kabiyesi Oba  Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja. 

“In both visits, we were fortunate to discuss the state of our nation and how all of us can live in unity, love, fairness and justice progressively together.” 

“The meetings make me believe that coming together of a competent team with capacity, compassion, and commitment to build a new Nigeria that is Possible. -PO,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, while visiting the Olubadan designate, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, at his Bodija residence, Obi recognised the contributions made by  the indigenes of Ibadanland both home and abroad, to the nation's socioeconomic development.

He opined that without mentioning Ibadan, the nation's socioeconomic and political history would be incomplete.

He said “Ibadanland has always played a pivotal role in both socio-economic and political history of the country.

“Its place in the history of the country cannot be ignored. Ibadan is home to all because of the hospitable nature of the indigenes.”
