It was a moment of anger and tears on Saturday as parishioners of St Charles Catholic Church, Eha-Ndiagu, Eha-Alumonah, in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, stormed the very spot where their parish priest was murdered.

NATIONAL POST recalls that the young priest, Rev Fr Mathew Eya, was murdered in cold blood on Friday evening by suspected assassins while he was returning from Enugu, the State capital.

Grieving members of his parish stormed the spot where the incident took place and wailed uncontrollably, while placing curses on those behind the dastardly act.

As they wailed, prayed around the area, the traumatized women called on God to bring to book those who snuffed life out of their priest.

They could be heard crying that: “the blood of Fr Matthew will not go in vain; whether man, or woman, who has a hand in the killing of Fr Matthew, let sudden death be the person’s portion; they will die like a fowl; all the conspirators should be exposed by God.”

This is also as a male voice  could be heard saying: “we counted up to 12 bullets.”

Meanwhile, the Enugu State Government has placed a N10 million bounty on those behind the murder.
