A former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has weighed the possibility of ex-Vice President, Atiku Abubakar losing the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Sani, who represented Kaduna Central, said it would be difficult for Atiku to lose the presidential primary election.
He spoke in apparent reaction to the clarification Atiku made earlier in the day on whether he would step down for a younger candidate.
Sani said it's easier for a camel to pass through the hole of a needle than for Atiku to be beaten in any primary election.
In a post on X, Sani wrote: "His Excellency the Waziri reportedly said he would step aside if “a younger candidate wins the primaries.”
"The key word here is PRIMARIES…it’s easier for camel to pass through the hole of a needle than to beat the Waziri in primaries….Party Delegates are special breed of people."
NATIONAL POST reports that Atiku was quoted to have told the BBC Hausa service that he would be ready to step down for a younger candidate.
However, a few hours later, he said his remarks were not properly captured.
There has been clamour in several quarters that Atiku should allow Mr Peter Obi fly the ADC flag in 2027.
