DSS warns public against dismissed staff using its name to defraud Nigerians

By

The Department of State Services, DSS, has cautioned members of the public to be wary of one Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed officer of the Service, who is allegedly using its name to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.

The Service, in a statement on Monday, said the former staff had been dismissed but continued to engage in fraudulent and unscrupulous activities while parading himself as a serving officer.

According to the DSS, Godwin has been using the agency’s name to extort money and deceive members of the public under various pretences.

“The Department of State Services, DSS, hereby alerts members of the public of the activities of one Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed staff. He is reportedly engaging in unscrupulous activities, including using the name of the Service to defraud unsuspecting members of the public,” the statement read.

The DSS advised Nigerians to desist from any form of dealings with Godwin or anyone claiming affiliation with him.

It further urged that all legitimate requests, enquiries, or complaints be directed to the Service through its official contact channels and its designated email address.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and accountability, warning that anyone caught impersonating its personnel or tarnishing its image would face the full wrath of the law.
