A 22-year-old girl, identified as Nnenna Eke, has been flogged to death in Abia State.
NATIONAL POST learnt that she was beaten to death by a 68-year-old-woman, Mrs Victoria Madubuko of Ndiambe Ozuitem in Bende LGA of Abia State.
The suspect has already been arrested by operatives of the Abia State Police Command.
She committed the act with a native cane known as "Okpete", after an altercation.
No reason has been given for her action, as of the time of filing this report.
Commissioner of Police, Abia Command, CP Danladi Isa, disclosed this when he addressed journalists at the police headquarters, Umuahia.
He said that the victim, Nnenna Eke fell sick as a result of the flogging and was taken to Tochi Hospital where the doctors confirmed her dead.
The police chief, who said that the corpse of the 22-year-old girl had been deposited in a mortuary at Akaelu in Bende LGA, disclosed that the suspect, Mrs Victoria Madubuko was arrested by the police while investigation on the matter is ongoing at State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Umuahia.
In a related incident, the CP said that a 31-year-old man, Chinonso Chukwuemeka from Abayi village was stabbed on the chest by one man, Chimaobi Nwanne of the same address during a scuffle about a business transaction.
He said that the victim was rushed to Akachukwu Hospital Eastern Ngwa for medical attention but was confirmed dead by doctors.
The Commissioner of Police, who further said that the suspect, Chinonso Chukwuemeka fled to Umuezenta Mbasi village after committing the crime, said that he was nabbed by police officers from Eastern Ngwa Divisional Headquarters, adding that investigation is ongoing.
