Nigerian Government has confirmed that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has taken ill.
It, however, said there was no plan to replace the minister.
Edun was reported to have been flown abroad after suffering a stroke.
However, a statement by the presidency on Sunday said Edun was recuperating in Nigeria and not abroad.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the Minister is receiving medical care in Nigeria.
“Yes, he’s indisposed. Wale Edun is about 69 years old. He suddenly fell ill. As we are talking, he is in Nigeria. He is recuperating. He’s around,” Onanuga said.
Meanwhile, the presidency earlier confirmed that Edun would not be leading Nigeria's delegation to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Annual Meeting in Washington DC, which opens on Monday, October 13.
Mr Olayemi Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria will now lead that delegation.
