The Nationwide League One (NLO), has banned 44 players from participating in the 2025 season. The NLO made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday after the players were confirmed ineligible by the league's medical team. It said, "Following the comprehensive medical examination conducted across all states by the appointed NLO Medical Team, it has been confirmed that the affected players are ineligible to participate in the upcoming league season. "This decision is based strictly on medical grounds as outlined in the official report submitted by the NLO doctors. "The health and safety of every player remain a top priority for the Nationwide League One (NLO), and we fully support the league’s commitment to ensuring only medically fit players are cleared for competition." The league body urged the affected clubs to make adjustments to their squad following the development. "We advise all concerned clubs to take this matter seriously and make the necessary adjustments to their squad lists in line with the league’s medical compliance requirements," NLO advised.

In a grand display of appreciation and admiration, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, Hon. Okechukwu Edeh, has hosted the Nkanu East football team to a reception at his office in Enugu on Friday. This was even as the players and the management commended the chairman for the support the council had given to them throughout the tournament season. The gesture was necessitated by the team's remarkable victory at the recently concluded Rauf Badamosi Football (RBF) Championship held at Ibagwa-Aka in Igboeze-South council area where the team emerged third, winning a whopping sum of ten million Naira. The team's triumph was marked by a thrilling win over its Enugu North counterpart in a penalty shootout during the Championship tournament after a 3-3 90 minutes draw. In his remarks, the council chairman, who also doubles as Enugu State chapter chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), said the players' team spirit, resilience, and commitment were instrumental to their success.
