Benin coach, Gernot Rohr has lamented how Super Eagles strike, Victor Osimhen ended his World Cup hopes on Tuesday.
Rohr spoke highly of Osimhen after both teams' 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
Rohr brought Osimhen into the Super Eagles National Team during his time as coach of Nigeria's national team.
He said he was happy that the Galatasaray star has become a world-class striker.
He also hoped the former Napoli star would do well for Nigeria during the World Cup playoffs.
Rohr watched as Osimhen's hat-trick and a goal from Frank Onyeka gave Nigeria a 4-0 win against the Benin Republic in Uyo.
In his post-match interview after the game, Rohr said, "We tried, but when you have such a good player like Osimhen.
"I remember when I brought Osimhen into the team, he was 17, here in our first game against Tanzania, and he was already in our selection.
"So I am very happy to see him like that, but I'm not happy he did it against me. But I hope he can do it in the playoffs for your country, which I love."
